Program Evaluation

Hiya! Emily Here,

Part of our project is to evaluate how we feel like our fundraising went and what we may improve on for next time. Our fundraising event we did at the B building cafeteria unfortunately did not meet our expected fundraising goal of 500$. However we did still make a great amount of 176.75$

Our fundraiser did not go off without a hitch – Upon arriving to the cafeteria table, we realized our designated area did not have a plug for the coffee machine we had. We had moved to an area closer to the cafeteria where there was a plug and a-lot more traffic. We then got asked to move back to our original designated area by the student’s association so we moved back to an area that had an outlet but a lot less traffic.

Halfway through our fundraiser we realized it was very hard to get students to stop where they were walking to and to grab a cup of coffee. There was a career fair simultaneously going on in the ACCE building where one of our professors Rhonda Giguere kindly offered us a table to sell our chocolates at. Abbey and I went to that area for the last hour for fundraising and were able to boost our donation amount slightly.

IMG_8229Moving forward, it may have been more beneficial to possibly host an additional fundraising activity that would have been some sort of event where participants would pay a certain amount to participate in such as a contest, a show or movie, a dinner event or a raffle. That could have possibly generated more of a buzz and benefit for the people who are donating.

All in all, we still did a great job with the help of the marketing items given to us by the Alzheimer’s society as well as the promotion of our event on social medias. Regardless of the amount made, we still made a great contribution towards a great cause.

Red Dress Gala

Hiya! Emily here,

Over the weekend Abbey, Lexi, Melissa and I attended the annual Red Dress Gala event at the Brockville convention centre. The venue was beautifully decorated with Christmas lights and centrepieces at the white draped table. The majority of the women were wearing beautiful red dresses in support of Alzheimer’s.

The ladies and I were seated at table fourteen alongside three lovely women named Vicky, Kim and Donna. The evening started with a cocktail hour where we grabbed a glass of wine (or two!). There was also a fun photo booth that the girls and I had fun with.

The next portion of the night was dinner. The supper was a buffet style that included Ham, potatoes, salad, tortellini stuffed with cheese, and salad. The dinner was delicious and the girls and I were all stuffed as if it was thanksgiving. Preceding dinner was desert. The buffet had a wide assortment of sweet treats and cakes along with coffee and tea.

After eating, we played music trivia where we were given a sheet with song lyrics where you needed to guess the artist and title of the song and run to the front to bring your sheet. Abbey was our runner and took off her heels to run for us but got trampled on the way up by another team’s runner.

After the trivia activities, there was a dance where they played new and old hits. On our drive home, the girls and I were continuing the dance party in the car and got so distracted that we accidentally took the wrong exit on the highway. We only realized we were going the wrong way when we ended up in Cornwall.

All in all, the event was very well organized and beautifully decorated and we had a great night at the Red Dress Gala. We’d like to thank Bobbi-Jo White for inviting us to this great event and to all the organizers for the amazing night.

THANK YOU!

Hi friends, Abbey here!!

Now that we have completed the Coffee Break and attended the Red Dress Gala, we owe a big thanks to everyone that helped us out.

Our first and biggest thanks goes to The Alzheimer’s Society for everything they have done for us. They have supported us throughout this entire journey and they provided us supplies for us to successfully run our Coffee Break. We have been supported by the Alzheimer’s Society from the very beginning of this project and we couldn’t be more grateful.

We also want to thank Equator Coffee for providing coffee, sugar, stir sticks and cups. They helped us tremendously by providing these supplies. We give a huge thank you to Hillside Reformed Presbyterian Church in Almonte. Without them we would not have been able to provide coffee for the Coffee Break. The church provided us with the coffee machine that made us 100 cups of coffee.

Our final thank you goes to everybody who came out and supported our Coffee Break. To all the people that came out and donated, stopped by for a quick chat or just waved to us as they walked by, we thank you. You guys made our event possible, fun and successful!

We are so grateful for each and everyone of you who have helped us with our Coffee Break.

Enjoy your week!!

Alzheimer’s Society Red Dress Gala Fundraiser Tonight!!

Hello – Steph Here!!

Today – November 3rd marks the night of the Red Dress Gala Alzheimer’s Society Fundraiser Event in Brockville, Ontario.

This fundraiser is such an amazing way to raise money for such a great cause by having ladies dress up in their fancy red dresses, enjoy dinner, conversations and to dance the night away!
Unfortunately, I was unable to attend this event tonight but my wonderful team (Recreation Family)  is supporting this event for me in my absence. My spirit will join them tonight for the Red Dress Gala Event though!

When I mention my spirit… I found a way to support tonight’s event by dressing up in my red dress at home to show my determination and commitment for the Alzheimer’s Society. This Society definitely touches home for me so this is my special way to give back.

There will be updates about the Red Dress Gala from my team soon to come!
Keep reading our blog to stay in the loop!

Cheers to all the Red Dress Gala ladies tonight! 🙂
